The Pilgrimage

April 22, 2019

This Good Friday, as I was driving to my parents’ for Easter weekend, I saw many making their Pilgrimages. And out here on these long, hot highways, that is no small thing. There was even a young man carrying what looked to be a 6”x6”x12’ piece of lumber - an unfinished cross.

One does not have to subscribe to the same religion to appreciate and respect the willingness to suffer and endure for one’s values and beliefs.. for someone to be willing to bear the burden of another and join them on their pilgrimage, even if just for a part of it.

We are all on a pilgrimage, and we all bear a burden. Many of us are also sharing in the burdens of others. The question that drives us ever forward is… Why? What are you pilgrimaging for? What are you choosing to carry, and for whom?
